Battleship great movie for Memorial Day

To watch Battleship on Memorial Day was a Homerun. I felt very patriotic and had goose bumps several times throughout the flick. I don't know what it is about AC/DC tunes in a movie that makes it badass. Varsity Blues, Iron man, and now Battleship. Note to future film makers , add a song of ACDC to your movie and guys will like it. There is scene when real veterans of the USS Missouri come to the rescue. And when you add AC/DC to it, just made it a badass scene. Once again made me feel Patriotic watching the old timers go to battle against Aliens. Awesome special effects, I would have liked to watch this flick in one of the super duper sound /Feel chairs. That would have been fantastic to "feel" the sound of his movie. Brooklyn Decker has made it to the top of my hot list. She is flawless, damn you Andy Roddick! There is a real wounded warrior actor in this film, he was great. Not the best actor but added a courage element. I took my 9 yr old son , so feel free to take a friend, kid, or wife. All should enjoy it on the big screen or in a home theater. Rating 1-10 Give it a 8 because of the timing of seeing it on Memorial day made it more patriotic and memorable.

The Dictator--smells funny

I think I was expecting too much from this film. Everything I had read was talking about how gross the humor was, and how crude the humor was, and how funny it was.
I didn't think it was SO over the top in any of the topics
Gross & crude humor , Yes
Funny, Yes
But it was just OK, wait for video.
Funny movie to watch in the man cave with your bros, but not so much with the wife.
It is a total guy humor flick.
There was a moment at the end which was an eye opener comparing US Government and a Dictatorship. I wish I had written it down.
Especially when they listed famous dictators and mentioned Dick Chenney. LOL
Rent it and save your money , no need to see on the big screen.
Rating 1-10
I give it a 6
Better than average, but I was expecting more from the comedic genius.

The Avengers, finally!

AMAZE--BALLS, my new favorite saying.
The Avengers rocked the big screen!
I wanted to see this movie earlier, but I promised to take my son when he finished 2 books first.
So, all weekend he was about to pee his pants.

I did take a sneak peak earlier this week on the regular 2d version.
It is well worth the extra few dollars to see in 3D. Not even close.
A.J. my 9 yr old flinched several times when aliens flew straight at us.

The character ground work was good, you really dont have to see any of the first movies to understand what is going one. ( It would help to see them when it comes to the villain and Thor connection, & the object that everyone wants)
But it is easy to tell the good guys vs the bad guys which is the premise for the movie.

I guess its my own inner "Hulk" that makes me smile while watching the Hulk.
When that Big SOB gets on the same page with the other Avengers--it gave me goosebumps and I could not help but smile watching this guy just Smash everything in site.
There were a couple of scenes with the Hulk that the whole theater burst into laughter.
My son's favorite characters were Captian America and the Hulk.
I really enjoyed Chris Evans as Capt America ( I did not see that flick) , I just liked his team first, soldier mentality, and his team leadership.
A.J. brought up that " I think Ironman was kind of a jerk, and was rude".  Outstanding for a 9yr old to pick up those character flaws. But he realized the Ironman did learn a lesson at the end and AJ was very proud of what Ironman did to save his friends.

This is a great Summer Blockbuster type film.
For all you Dads out there, if your son is at least 7yrs old, then take him to this. It is a great father & son moment. I'm not sure little girls would like this flick, but some might. Take the time with your child and share a nice time at the movies. Plus they might learn a little something about team work and being a part of something bigger than themselves.

rating 1-10
Giving it a 9 , it lived up to the hype and was worth the $30 to go see on the big screen.
Which seems high, but it is the first summer blockbuster and it delivered!
I will go see it again--it was that good.

The Raven

John Cusack is not a good dramatic actor. When he yells it reminds me of him in Better Off Dead! Lol It's just doesn't work. The story is interesting if true because Edgar Alan Poe died of mysterious cause while in Balitmore. ( I did not ruin the ending because they do that in the first 20 seconds) It is a scary gruesome flick, very graphic and bloody. I jumped out of my seat a couple of times. No need to see on the big screen but it's worth renting, On a rainy weekend. I give it a 4.5 out of 10

Jonah Hill is the SITTER

yes its Adventures in Babysitting re-done
But much raunchier and dirty humor
I thought it was really funny, I laughed out loud several times
But I like crass humor and fart jokes.
A 8 year old girl "sharting" themselves is great
If my kid was the child actor in this movie--I might have had an issue with them doing some of these lines
But thats why I thought it was funny & watching Jonah tell a kid to shut the F up is great.
I wish I could ;)
That being said its a great movie for college kids or if you are home alone or oon the road and want to watch something the wife wont want to see
This is worth the rental

rating system 1-10
I give it a 6

Lock up is a rip off

John McLain from Die Hard meets the Fifth element while trying to Escape from New York. Take these 3 movies and you have Lock up

Guy Pierce takes 2 Bruce Willis roles and combines them into the main character. Rescuing Presidents daughter from space prison
He was kind of funny but the movie was terrible
Luc Besson was writer and producer--you could tell
But this guy has done zero since The 5th elemnet which I thought was ahead of its time 15 yrs ago in 1997

Dont waste your time and money
I thought seeing on the big screen might help but the special effects and sound was average.
Rating system 1-10
this was a 2.5
Should have seen American Reunion or the Stooges instead
Stay thirsty my friends for better movies
