Looking back on this film years from now, I think it will have helped me & my marriage.
I really felt as if there were several conflicts in the movie that I have had in my own life.
Judd Apatow has turned into so much more than a comedic talent, he is a life lessons guru.
Anyone who says they didn't lke the movie, must have the perfect life then.
I thought it hit on all adult subects...sex, kids, appearance, communications, money, debt, work, your parents, taking a shit, etc...
Paul Rudd & Leslie Mann have fantastic chemistry, they must be great freinds in real life because it comes thru on the screen.
I hope in years to come I can watch this movie, laugh and take away something positive about my marriage like I did the first time.
A must watch for all folks in their 40's and over
I give it a 7.8 out of 10

MUST SEE Life of PI in 3D
This is a 3d cinematic masterpiece by Ang Lee. The 3d effects were amazing well worth the extra $3 to see in 3d.
It was a very interesting story on top of the effects. To discuss the plot is to give too much away.
It was one of the best movies of the year by far. JUST GO SEE IT IN 3D while in the theater.
I took my 10yr old and he loved the effects. There was a couple of times when the tiger scared him to the point he took off his glasses. But all in all he loved it.
Great time and well worth the $$ to see it.
I give it a 8.5 out of 10
Might be the best movie I have seen all year.

Red Dawn is like velvetta
CHEEEZZZEEE
only way I can explain this moive. Sometimes I like cheesey movies. the acting sucks, the action scenes are cool. There is a twist I didn't see coming , but it is what it is.
if you saw the first one, this one has more explosions but its the same story.
I you dont want to think while watching a movie and just want to burn 1HR-1/2 go for it.
I have seen worse.
Like I said sometimes I like some velvetta on my chips--I give it a 4 out of 10

Lincoln is great story telling
This movie was 2-1/2 hrs.
It didn't seem that long, especially for a movie that has zero action.
It is all dialogue and telling a story.
It's been a awhile since a saw a movie that was just pure dialogue -- you know what is going to happen, you know the outcome before the movie starts. ( he is killed ;-)
And yet it still entertained me for almost 3hrs.
Some of the best acting you will ever watch.
I predict an Oscar nomination for both Daniel Day Lewis and Tommy Lee Jones, both were outstanding
Also, for some comic relief James Spader was great too.
It is a movie that also is relevant to today's politics and how things are done still to this day.
How far removed has the Republican and Democratic parties moved from their origins.
It's like they have flipped. Watch it and see how it can compare to dealing into today's world.
We have come far as a nation, but far enough in100yrs?
I think not.
I will predict it gets Oscar buzz, so see it for sure. But no need to see on the big screen
I will give it a 8.8 out of 10

Skyfall is setting the table for Bond
Skyfall was a very well done Bond movie. The past several Daniel Craig 007 flicks have been dark and making Bond kind of an outcast and unlikeable agent.
This movie sets the table to take the franchise to the next level.
I wont revel too much because you need to watch it, but the next Bond movie will be more "old school" like Connery and Moore Bond character.
I think the Craig version of a rogue unloved agent is done and now its moving towards likeable character, with his zingers and 1 liners etc...
Watch Skyfall and prepare yourself to be bombarded with one every 2 yrs for next 8 yrs
I give it a 7 out of 10

We bought a Zoo
A great story of a family dealing with loss.
It was very dramatic in the dynamics between a father and son, husband and loss of a wife.
It sends a really cool message to
Trying something crazy, amazing, triumphant , & beautiful when life has you down.
Truly inspiring acting by the cast, I even got emotional watching it.
Matt Damon and Scarlet Johanson are super. The kid Colin Ford was very good as the distraught son.
Not a picture for kids under 8, but is a family film.
It asks a great question, who do you like more animals or people?
Rent it well worth the price
I give it 7.5 out of 10

Lawless is ball-less
What a terrible flick!
Do not waste your time watching Shia LaBeouf and Tom Hardy do the worst VA accents ever.
A true story of bootleggers in Virginia , OMG what a waste of my time.
The characters are so underdeveloped and the story is not anything interesting.
I can't think of 1 good thing to say, don't even waste the time to rent it.
Giving it a 1.5 out of 10

The Perks of being a Wallflower, Breakfast club fans will love it
A lot of critics have comnpared this film to John Hughes type movies.
It was much darker than any of those.
If you like Breakfast Club you will love this, its very well written and acted.
Its takes place in the mid-late 80's, so us folks in their 40's will love the music.
Lots of Smiths and other alternative band from the 80's.
Emma Watson as the love interest was outstanding, damn she is one cute girl!
Ezra Miller is fantastic as supporting actor. Oscar worthy in my opinion.
I laughed a bunch through out the whole film, but the end was really serious.
Did not see that coming.
Its a dram-edy or dark comedy type flick.
A great movie about high school, I really enjoyed it
I give it a 7 out of 10

ARGO is good not great
All the talk about how great Argo is , was just hype.
Don't get me wrong , it was good.
It was not worth seeing on big screen--would be a GREAT rental.
It was really clever, funny, well acted, intense, true story about Iran hostage crisis of 1980.
Cool soundtrack
But it just lacked "umpff" or something. Can't put my finger on it. I think we needed more back story on the main CIA agent role played by Ben Affleck. I liked the character but didnt feel for the character.
Nice true history story. Everyone should see it.
Give it a 7.5 out of 10

End of Watch is best cop movie in years
I have seen alot of cop flicks, this one was terrific.
It was filmed like a reality show/ documentary, just a really cool way to shoot a cop film.
I mean there has been tons of movies about LA cops, but this one was awesome.
The chemistry between Jake Gyllenhaal and Michael Pena is so good. It was funny, heart felt, dramatic. They talk about family , falling in love, marriage, its was really engaging.
This film had it all, at one point my heart was racing, It was so intense!
But once again the chemistry between the two partners is what makes this film click.
it was a great film

The Change Up on HBO
I did not get to see this while in theaters, but watched it on HBO.
It was Jason Bateman at his best, it remined me of his role as Dereck on Silver Spoons with Ricky Schroder back in 80's.
It was good raunchy humor, very Farrelly Bros-esque.
I laughed out loud a bunch.
Rent it with your wife or girlfriend and have a few drinks to lighten the mood, it has a good moral to the story in the end.

Dark Knight vs Occupiers of Wall St
Ok the Dark Knight rises is a movie about our society of the have and the have nots.
Its about class warfare, period. When there is too broad of distribution of wealth, the poor rise up.
That is the premise of this flick.Bane is the ultimate Occupier on steriods!
Tom Hardy who plans Bane is a fantastic villain, and Christan Bale does a good job as Bruce Wayne.
There was a good plot twist and I liked the ending, which keeps it open for a Batman in any justice league movie--like the Avengers.
I'm sure that is the plan, to have Green Lantern, Super man, Batman, Flash, etc..
If I was running the movie studio that wouold be my plan.
Anyhow, iftwas very well done and did not seem like 2hrs 45min.
It did hit a little too close to home as far as society and our current financial status.
But I give it a 7.5 out of 10

The Watch is NOT worth watching on big screen
OK, I had big expectations for this flick. It did not deliver. It didn't suck but no need to run out and pay theater prices.
It would be a great man cave movie, or something to watch with the guys, get a good buzz on before seeing it.
Vince Vaughn always delivers as does Jonah Hill. they both were funny.
I would like to watch it again when it comes out on DVD and really listen to some of the dialogue. Which at times was funny but things happened so fast it was hard to comprehend sometimes.
OK flick
Give it a 5 out of 10

Rock of Ages is for folks who love cheesy
I went and saw this with my sister at the $2 theater.
I think I was one of 2 men in the whole theater.
Growing up my sister liked what I was listening to in high school, she looked up to her big brother ;-)
Def Leppard, Bon Jovi, Guns & Roses, Van Halen to name a few.
So this flick was kind of like going down memory lane.
I got goose bumps more than once.
That being said, CHEEEESSE!
The first 5 min into it , I said this could be the cheesiest shit I have ever seen!
I said to myself if this keeps up for another 10min I'm out.
It got better, and I tell you what. TOM CRUISE WAS REALLY GOOD. I am not a fan of his, but he nailed the character called Stacee Jaxx.
He was a mixture of Axel Rose, Vince Neil, David Lee Roth rock god.
He was by far the best part of the movie, I hate to say it but he was!
Great movie to rent for date night, it is sexy Flick, that is for sure. Might be a great way to get your wife or girlfriend " worked up".
You have to love 80's rock to enjoy this, the likes of Foreigner ( a lot of this band)
Bon Jovi, Poision, Journey.
If you do then you might give it a 7.
If you don't like cheesey 80's rock then a 2.
Spider man 3d , ehh OK
Spider man was just OK. I was not a fan of Andrew Garfield In this. To me Toby Maguire was a better Peter Parker.
There was not much chemistry between Andrew and Emma Stone, and it's seems they are dating in real life. Just didn't translate on the big screen.
Another thing that pisses me off is the billing it as a 3D movie, there were a few seconds of cool 3d scenes, but not worth the extra $4 to see it.
I have only seen 2 movies that were worth the 3d label , Avatar & Transformers3 dark side of the moon.
If you like super hero movies it's not bad, your kids will love it. Rent it and enjoy with your kids.
I enjoyed how it showed how Peter Parker learned to work with his abilities and created his web slinger thingy.
All in all not a bad flick, just not as good as the Sam Raimi versions
I am giving it a 6 out of 10

Abraham Lincoln vampire hunter book is awesome, movie sucks
How in the hell can the same guy write an awesome book and such a shitty screenplay?
How does that happen?
Usually when they make a movie about a book, the book's author doesn't write the screenplay, it's unheard of. But this author got to, why not stick with what to you to the party?
Seth Grahame-Smith,you write a book almost as good as the Divinci code.
But wrote a campy horror flick from the 70's for your movie.
The movie is totally different from the book!
This movie sucked so bad, I can't even try to explain how disappointed I was watching this crappy movie.
I kept saying to myself , what idiot wrote the screen play for this, it's nothing like the book. Just the fact that Abe hunts vampires is the only thing consistent between the two.
I couldnt believe my eyes at the end and saw who wrote this crap.
Seth, great book, terrible movie you dumbass
maybe it might have been ok if you didn't read the book,...no way
It still sucked
If you read the book stay away from the movie

Savages is REALLY good
Oliver Stone, where have you been buddy?
This is his best flick in a long time!
The cast is exceptional. Whomever the casting director was, hats off to them.
Lots of pot smoking, sex, and huge dose of Violence.
Not for the faint hearted, it is very grusome.
But, it is really unique story, I was intrigued from the very start.
The Mexican cartels are scary and marijuana medical legalization in CA is the back drop.
I think Oliver's message is that the war on drugs is lost and it needs to be legal.
But enough said...
Blake Lively is SUPER sexy, WOW.
I loved Tim Riggins from Friday Night lights he was great.
( Sorry Taylor Kitsch you will always be Riggins)
Aaron Johnson was really good too , I liked him as John Lennon in Nowhere Boy.
He was excellent as was the entire cast
Travolta, Salma ( still looks Hot), Benecio Del Toro all very good.
Just very well done movie
Not great but REALLY Good
7.5
( Has to be 8 or higher to be great, Rating 1-10)

Ted is funny but not as much as I had hoped
Ted has been #1 at the box office.
Seth MacFarlane is the writer and producer of such hit TV shows Family Guy & American Dad.
He is the director and writer of this movie.
If you watch these shows like I do, this movie was nothing more than 1hr and half TV show.
Some people were shocked at the humor, but its the same writing as the TV show.
Funny yes, but I was expecting more since it was on the big screen.
You must have seen the 1980 movie of Flash Gordon to really appreciate what the hell is going on for a large part of the movie. Also I noticed the background music was very Indiana Jones and Star wars like. Which was funny.
Walhberg is great, he is really good considering most of his dialogue is by himself, because he is talking to a blue screen not a real person.
Seth who voices the bear is funny but its just him being the Peter Griffin voice from Family Guy.
I love the way they curse in the thick Boston accent
You r bein a cau-ck, and smell dat far-t.
Dont get me wrong, this is a very funny movie, for most. I was expecting more.
The 5 year engagment was funnier than this.

Prometheus is Alien
Sorry I have been really busy with vacation and work.
So I have several movies to catch up on.
First , Prometheus is directed by Ridley Scott who did the 1979 sci-fi flick Alien ( which won an Oscar for best visual effects).
If you have seen that then you have seen this. Its the same movie, a movie for a new generatin of fans.
Even the ending is the same as Alien.
Had Alien never been made this would have been a 8 or 9 but because its the same movie it gets a 5.5.
(Rating 1-10)
Great on the big screen, the sound & the effects are great--but knowing what is going to happen sucks.

Snow White meets Braveheart
Lets start off by saying, it is PG13 just for violence.
I thought it would be "sexier" for some reason.
Feel free to take yours kids 9-10 older.
The special effects are very Cool!
Chris Helmsworth was really good as the drunk huntsman.
Charlize Theron was good as the wicked queen.
Kristen Stewart was ok, especially around the animals and such.
But Cheese and crackers she was terrible as the warrior Snow White.
It's like she was tying to be Mel Gibson in Braveheart.
Seeing her fling a sword around in armor was just ridiculous.
Stupid acting and really ruined the movie for me.
I will give it a 4 out of 10

Battleship great movie for Memorial Day
To watch Battleship on Memorial Day was a Homerun.
I felt very patriotic and had goose bumps several times throughout the flick.
I don't know what it is about AC/DC tunes in a movie that makes it badass.
Varsity Blues, Iron man, and now Battleship.
Note to future film makers , add a song of ACDC to your movie and guys will like it.
There is scene when real veterans of the USS Missouri come to the rescue. And when you add AC/DC to it, just made it a badass scene. Once again made me feel Patriotic watching the old timers go to battle against Aliens.
Awesome special effects, I would have liked to watch this flick in one of the super duper sound /Feel chairs. That would have been fantastic to "feel" the sound of his movie.
Brooklyn Decker has made it to the top of my hot list. She is flawless, damn you Andy Roddick!
There is a real wounded warrior actor in this film, he was great. Not the best actor but added a courage element.
I took my 9 yr old son , so feel free to take a friend, kid, or wife.
All should enjoy it on the big screen or in a home theater.
Rating 1-10
Give it a 8 because of the timing of seeing it on Memorial day made it more patriotic and memorable.

The Dictator--smells funny
I think I was expecting too much from this film. Everything I had read was talking about how gross the humor was, and how crude the humor was, and how funny it was.
I didn't think it was SO over the top in any of the topics
Gross & crude humor , Yes
Funny, Yes
But it was just OK, wait for video.
Funny movie to watch in the man cave with your bros, but not so much with the wife.
It is a total guy humor flick.
There was a moment at the end which was an eye opener comparing US Government and a Dictatorship. I wish I had written it down.
Especially when they listed famous dictators and mentioned Dick Chenney. LOL
Rent it and save your money , no need to see on the big screen.
Rating 1-10
I give it a 6
Better than average, but I was expecting more from the comedic genius.

The Avengers, finally!
AMAZE--BALLS, my new favorite saying.
The Avengers rocked the big screen!
I wanted to see this movie earlier, but I promised to take my son when he finished 2 books first.
So, all weekend he was about to pee his pants.
I did take a sneak peak earlier this week on the regular 2d version.
It is well worth the extra few dollars to see in 3D. Not even close.
A.J. my 9 yr old flinched several times when aliens flew straight at us.
The character ground work was good, you really dont have to see any of the first movies to understand what is going one. ( It would help to see them when it comes to the villain and Thor connection, & the object that everyone wants)
But it is easy to tell the good guys vs the bad guys which is the premise for the movie.
I guess its my own inner "Hulk" that makes me smile while watching the Hulk.
When that Big SOB gets on the same page with the other Avengers--it gave me goosebumps and I could not help but smile watching this guy just Smash everything in site.
There were a couple of scenes with the Hulk that the whole theater burst into laughter.
My son's favorite characters were Captian America and the Hulk.
I really enjoyed Chris Evans as Capt America ( I did not see that flick) , I just liked his team first, soldier mentality, and his team leadership.
A.J. brought up that " I think Ironman was kind of a jerk, and was rude". Outstanding for a 9yr old to pick up those character flaws. But he realized the Ironman did learn a lesson at the end and AJ was very proud of what Ironman did to save his friends.
This is a great Summer Blockbuster type film.
For all you Dads out there, if your son is at least 7yrs old, then take him to this. It is a great father & son moment. I'm not sure little girls would like this flick, but some might. Take the time with your child and share a nice time at the movies. Plus they might learn a little something about team work and being a part of something bigger than themselves.
rating 1-10
Giving it a 9 , it lived up to the hype and was worth the $30 to go see on the big screen.
Which seems high, but it is the first summer blockbuster and it delivered!
I will go see it again--it was that good.

The Raven
John Cusack is not a good dramatic actor.
When he yells it reminds me of him in Better Off Dead! Lol
It's just doesn't work.
The story is interesting if true because Edgar Alan Poe died of mysterious cause while in Balitmore. ( I did not ruin the ending because they do that in the first 20 seconds)
It is a scary gruesome flick, very graphic and bloody.
I jumped out of my seat a couple of times.
No need to see on the big screen but it's worth renting, On a rainy weekend.
I give it a 4.5 out of 10

The 5 yr engagement is this years Bridesmaids
Ok Judd Apatow has done it again
This guy is comedic gold
I was cackling out loud in this one
Funniest movie I have seen since Bridesmaids
It's not quite that funny but..
Great flick for Date with wife
It has some really interesting relationship issues
That I'm sure most married couples have dealt with
The soundtrack was very cool
All Van Morrison covers or by the man himself
Well worth the $ for date night
Can't go wrong taking the wife or girlfriend
Rating 1-10
7 because haven't seen any great movies yet this year

Jonah Hill is the SITTER
yes its Adventures in Babysitting re-done
But much raunchier and dirty humor
I thought it was really funny, I laughed out loud several times
But I like crass humor and fart jokes.
A 8 year old girl "sharting" themselves is great
If my kid was the child actor in this movie--I might have had an issue with them doing some of these lines
But thats why I thought it was funny & watching Jonah tell a kid to shut the F up is great.
I wish I could ;)
That being said its a great movie for college kids or if you are home alone or oon the road and want to watch something the wife wont want to see
This is worth the rental
rating system 1-10
I give it a 6

Lock up is a rip off
John McLain from Die Hard meets the Fifth element while trying to Escape from New York. Take these 3 movies and you have Lock up
Guy Pierce takes 2 Bruce Willis roles and combines them into the main character. Rescuing Presidents daughter from space prison
He was kind of funny but the movie was terrible
Luc Besson was writer and producer--you could tell
But this guy has done zero since The 5th elemnet which I thought was ahead of its time 15 yrs ago in 1997
Dont waste your time and money
I thought seeing on the big screen might help but the special effects and sound was average.
Rating system 1-10
this was a 2.5
Should have seen American Reunion or the Stooges instead
Stay thirsty my friends for better movies

The Hunger Games
In order to think this movie is awesome, then you must have read the books.
It was average at best
The actors were fine
The cinematography was null, music and score couldn't tell you anything memorable
Everything about this film was average
I guess all the hoopla made it disappointing
There just wasn't anything to write about
very similare to the Jim Carey flick the Truman show, where weather and everything around them is manipulated by the director of the show/hunger games.
No sense in seeing it in theaters unless you are a fan of the books
folks are wanting a rating system
so on a scale of 1-10
The Hunger Games was a 5--AVERAGE

21 Jump Street
This movie surprised me
I was not expecting much from it
I laughed out loud a bunch of times
Jonah Hill was his usual self , funny like in all his roles
very much like super bad role
BUT, Channing Tatum shocked the hell out of me--he was great and really funny
there are a couple of surprises I didn't see coming which made it even better
no need to see on big screen
wait for video , but it is worth seeing because you will laugh
Great for college folks just for the all the laughs but they probably wont get any of the cameos
also Great for adults who want a night out to re-live the aganst of high school and the original TV show
as a Traveling sales rep it was worth seeing to get out the hotel room
FYI the Rave theater in Montgomery AL is an awesome site--I reccomend these theaters

Project x
Ok project x
This movie is going to start a wave of parties thrown by geek/nerds/unpopular kids
In order to get popular
Growing up the epic movie house party was Jake Ryan's house in 16 candles
Long Duck dong and Farmer Ted raised hell and trashed the house
Project x takes that on steroids to a new level--I doubt there has ever been a high school party like this one. Unrealistic but fun to watch
Where as you only have to ask PHS folks about the Steve Lease party
He did have police helicopters show up
His house got so messed up his dad kicked him out and he had to go live with his mom
Changed his life for the worse, he never came back to Peachtree
Where as this story goes, the dad gets proud of son for not being a loser and the kid becomes popular
Whatever!
The music soundtrack is very cool , some old school rap, but very cool DJ mixes that are very cool on the big screen and in surround sound
Dads, grab some high school buddies have a few beers before hand ( maybe talk to Larry)
Leave the wife and kids at home have a guys night out at the movies
Should be fun

Oscar recap for 2011 year
Hello folks
This is a blog for regular people to check out if a movie is worth paying to see.
Either on the big screen or in your home.
I am a 41 year old husband, father, traveling sales rep for a promotional firm.
No background in movies or theater
I am just a regular dude who likes movies.
So as my first ever blog, we are going to discuss last nights Oscar winners and losers.
Clooney, my man! I thought he was fantastic in the Descendants, lost out to a frenchy who doesn't even speak. You got hosed bro.
Viloa Davis was great in the The Help and I thought she would win, but this was more of a tribute for Meryl Streep's years of great acting is why SHE won. Not to take anything away from Meryl, but Rooney Mara in the Girl with the Dragon tattoo,
come on. That acting was priceless and not many women could have pulled that of better than her she was my choice as best actress.
Best Picture, I did not see them all but out of the ones I did see, The Help was the best movie. Octavia Spencer was gold and that is why she won. All around a great flick, no need to see on the big screen. Rent it and enjoy some chocolate pie at home while watching :)
I love football and having played a little in high school the movie Undefeated was an easy choice for best Doc.
Animated movie, Rango was the BEST animated movie I have seen in years. Best since the first Shrek or First Toy Story. It is in a class with those classics.
It was super on the big screen, worth the rental but you wont get the full effect on your home TV unless you have a movie theater size screen.
Original Screenplay I thought Bridesmaids was fantastic writing and hilarious with a touch of gross, that guys love. Potty humor is a winner in my book. Midnight in
Adapted screenplay The Descendants was in my top 5 movies of the year and well deserved for oscar.
OMG, the Original song category was weak, if you cant get more than 2 songs dont have the category. I could be the only person who saw the muppets and thought it sucked btw
The other oscars given out blah blah blah, Hugo was the easy choice on most of those technical categories whatever
I will say that I was glad to see Transformers was up for Visual effects and sound because that movie in 3d on big screen was worth every penny--that is what a 3D movie experience should be--I felt like I had wrestled with Autobots myself, I was sore and tired after that experience, which was a good thing
Anyhow, as you can see
I can't spell a lick or have good grammar
I am a regular dude reviewing for regular people
Who is this guy? & Review of the Descendants
This is a blog for regular folks that like movies
I have no movie or theater experience just thousand of hours
watching movies
I am a husband, father, & traveling sales rep for a
promotional marketing company, you can say I wear allot of caps
This is your site
Should you see in the theater? or wait for video, I will let
you know.
Is it worth the extra $4 for 3D? I will let you know
Here is a sample of the movie I saw last week
The Descendants
Clooney was outstanding , very deserving of the Oscar, ( Can’t
believe the frenchy won best actor , who didn’t even speak )
Shailene Woodley was fantastic as well, FYI she is 20 years
old for you horny guys who thought you were on the pedophile train ;) LOL She is playing a 16 year old
But seriously she was awesome as was her friend Sid was
classic stoner type
A drama-edy, which has some funny writing and acting but the
whole movie was a serious topic
Be prepared that it is not a feel good movie, but it is
excellent writing ( well deserved oscar win) and acting
No , need to see on the big screen you can wait for the
video
Made my top 5 movies for 2011
